Merchants are charged for receiving payments into their till. For payments at authorised fuel stations, Safaricom says the charge is borne by the paying customer, but the page does not print that charge. Charges for businesses paying out of a till are not covered here.

Fuliza overdraft

A one-off access fee of 1% when you use Fuliza, then a daily maintenance fee, applied at midnight (00:00) from the next day, on the amount outstanding. Safaricom adds 20% excise duty to the daily fee.

Source and limits

Source: Safaricom PLC, M-PESA Charges (last updated 4 August 2026) and Fuliza (last updated 23 June 2025), checked on 26 October 2026. The numbers are copied as printed; Contifield adds the band lookup and the totals. Nothing is fetched live, and Contifield rechecks this edition by 31 January 2027.

Sending to someone who is not registered for mobile money, and paying a Paybill, have no customer charge on Safaricom’s current charges page, so neither is calculated. Business charges (merchant fees and payments out of a till) and M-PESA Global transfers are not covered.

The amount you enter stays in the page address so the result can be reloaded or shared; it is not stored. Contifield is independent and is not affiliated with Safaricom.
