DPI and print size calculator

Convert image pixel dimensions to print dimensions, or calculate required pixels from print size and pixels per inch.

Runs in your browser. Inputs stay on this page and are not uploaded or added to the URL.

Pixels in the first mode; selected physical units in the second.

How to use this tool

Choose a direction and enter width, height and image pixels per inch. Physical size equals pixel count divided by PPI. In the reverse direction, the result shows required pixels and rounds to the nearest whole pixel.

The common phrase “DPI calculator” refers here to image PPI. Printer dots per inch are a different device characteristic. No image is uploaded, inspected or resized, and a density setting alone cannot guarantee print quality. Geometry outputs use up to 12 significant digits.

Worked example

A 3000 × 2400 pixel image at 300 PPI measures 10 × 8 inches, or 25.4 × 20.32 cm.
