Ratio simplifier

Reduce two integer or finite-decimal values to an exact whole-number ratio using greatest-common-divisor arithmetic.

Runs in your browser. Inputs stay on this page and are not uploaded or added to the URL.

How to use this tool

Enter two nonnegative values to reduce their ratio. Decimal inputs are converted to exact fractions before the common divisor is calculated, avoiding floating-point rounding in the simplified result.

At least one value must be positive. A zero component remains zero. Use a decimal point, no thousands separators, and no scientific or repeating notation; each value may contain at most 80 digits.

Worked example

1.5 : 2.25 simplifies to 2 : 3. A ratio of 0 : 8 simplifies to 0 : 1.
