Method and limits

Type part of a name to filter the 355 constants; all words must match. “Copy shown rows” copies the rows on screen as tab-separated text (quantity, value, uncertainty, unit) with values in e-notation, ready to paste into a spreadsheet.

About the values

These are the CODATA 2022 recommended values, released by NIST in May 2024 from the Committee on Data of the International Science Council’s least-squares adjustment of all relevant measurements. The standard uncertainty is one standard deviation in the last digits shown.

  • Since the 2019 revision of the SI, seven defining constants are exact: the caesium hyperfine frequency, the speed of light c, the Planck constant h, the elementary charge e, the Boltzmann constant k, the Avogadro constant NA and the luminous efficacy Kcd. Anything derived only from them, such as the molar gas constant R = NA k or the Faraday constant F = NA e, is exact too.
  • Exact values with infinitely many digits are shown truncated with “…”.
  • Quantities such as the vacuum permeability μ₀ and the dalton are measured, not exact, since 2019.

Values are written as NIST prints them, with digits grouped in threes; use the exact digits for calculation. The next adjustment (CODATA 2026) will supersede these values.
