SRT and WebVTT converter

Convert subtitle formats with timestamp validation and clear checks for unsupported WebVTT features.

Runs on your device · No upload

UTF-8 text up to 5 MiB and 50,000 chronological cues. Times must have millisecond precision and positive duration. Unsupported features are reported rather than silently removed.

Ready when JavaScript is loaded.

How to use it

  1. Paste subtitles or choose an SRT/WebVTT file.
  2. Select the destination format.
  3. Review validation and compatibility messages before downloading.

Timestamp and cue conversion

SRT uses a comma before milliseconds; WebVTT uses a period and a WEBVTT header. This converter validates cue times, adds the correct header and writes sequential SRT indices when needed.

Features that cannot transfer

WebVTT supports settings and markup that SRT cannot express consistently. Files with positioning settings or WebVTT-specific text markup are rejected when exporting SRT. NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks also require explicit handling before conversion.

Ordinary cue text is retained. Basic HTML-like styling can render differently between players, so check the result in your destination player.

Files and pasted values are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded, stored in your URL or saved to browser storage. Download the result if you want to keep it. CSV exports are limited to 1,000,000 cells and 20 MiB; large or sparse tables must be split. The site records aggregate page requests as described in the privacy policy.
